In our recent wholesale collaboration with the Medicine Hat Brewing Co. we had the opportunity to step out of the typical norms that can stifle any brand and force it into a convenient, small box—and that is not what we have ever sought to be.
Lets be honest, It doesn’t get more local than this. Hand-poured in Southern Alberta does not mean we simply craft our artisanal scents here, but that we live and breathe the air of Southern Alberta. We live in the textured prairies, where grass root fields and mountain vistas meet, where golden sunsets keep us up way too late, and like our hand-poured candles, we’re damn proud of it. Southern Alberta is an eclectic space to live and our recent partnership with Medicine Hat Brewing Co. proves just that.
This wholesale collaboration flips the script on what craft and creativity can smell like. When you smell, you are not simply smelling something—but are taken somewhere. Engaging with people is not just about t-shirts anymore. And though we LOVE our t-shirts, the reality is, whether we realize it or not, scent is one of the most powerful ways that people engage with the world. Think of your favorite cold beer on a hot summer patio in July. What is it about the refreshing, unique taste that quenches your thirst in the bald prairie heat? How did the scent of the patio, the campfire, or the sweet prairie fields, make you feel? Now pair that with your favorite candle. In this creative endeavor with the Medicine Hat Brewing Co. our aim was to capture the sunshine of Southern Alberta, in a can. Now, the quenching taste of Friday night can follow you everywhere right through to Sunday. You’re welcome.
A candle does not need to be a sterile linen scent that lives solely in spas. Sometimes they can shout, they can punch, and they can even sit on a sticky counter in a pub or brewery—like the creamsicle candle or the blueberry vanilla candle we poured right here in our home soil of Lethbridge, AB—modelled after the taste of these one of a kind brews themselves.
Candles don’t have to live in glass jars and clean packaging. They can wear anything. They can live in flannel, wear boots, live in the aftermath of Saturday night or smell like Sunday morning. They can crack jokes, start conversations, and pair with craft beer just as much as they do with bubble baths.
That’s why this brand collaboration with Medicine Hat Brewing Co. means so much to us. It isn’t about ticking a box or following rules. It’s about pouring personality into wax and steel. It’s about celebrating the community of Southern Alberta. And it’s about doing something that smells damn-good, that makes people take a second look when they see it on a shelf. We often associate scent with places like cafes, spas, homes, and gardens—but like our candles, we don't limit the experience to only that. Let’s take the experience of remembering a small Parisian cafe in France, to the wild breweries of the Southern Alberta prairies. It doesn't get more local than this.
